What Fear Almost Made Me Miss

There are weeks when life makes perfect sense.

This wasn't one of them.

I spent most of the week dizzy.

Not the kind of dizzy where you stand up too fast and have to catch yourself for a second. The kind where the room tilts for no apparent reason. The kind where walking from one room to another takes concentration because you aren't quite sure your body is going to cooperate.

The doctors don't know why.

If you've ever left a doctor's office without answers, you know what happens next.

Your mind gets busy.

Mine certainly did.

What if this doesn't go away?
What if it's something serious?
What if I can't work?
What if I can't keep teaching?

And because fear rarely travels alone, another worry crept in behind it.

Money.

I'd been putting off buying new glasses because they weren't exactly in the budget. I needed them, but I kept thinking, Maybe next month. Maybe I can squeeze a little more life out of these old ones.

It's amazing how quickly fear can convince us that taking care of ourselves is a luxury.

I didn't notice it happening at first.

Fear has a way of narrowing your vision.

It gets so loud that it drowns out almost everything else.

Then something unexpected happened.

My daughter offered to pay for half of my glasses.

I didn't ask.
She simply wanted to help.

A day or two later, friends surprised me with gifts.

Then people from my TikTok community reached out with kindness that honestly caught me off guard. People I've never met in person somehow found a way to remind me that they cared.

None of it made the dizziness disappear.

The doctors still don't have an answer.
I still don't know exactly what's causing it.

But something shifted inside me.

I realized I had become so focused on what might happen that I had almost missed what was happening.

I was being loved.

Not in some grand, dramatic way.

In ordinary ways.

The kind that are easy to overlook when fear is shouting in your ear.

A daughter who quietly says, "Let me help."

Friends who think of you.

A community of people who remind you that what you've shared with them over the years has mattered.
I almost missed it.

Not because those moments weren't important.

Because fear had convinced me there wasn't room to notice anything else.

It made me think about intuition.

When people come to me for a reading, they usually want answers.

They want to know what's going to happen.

Will I get the job?
Will this relationship work out?
When will things get better?

Those are natural questions.
I've asked them myself.

But this week reminded me that intuition doesn't always work the way we wish it would.

Sometimes it doesn't tell us what's around the next corner.
Sometimes it simply helps us see what's already here.

It helps us notice the things fear keeps trying to hide.

The doctors couldn't tell me what was wrong.

Life kept showing me what was right.

That doesn't mean everything suddenly became okay.

I'm still waiting for answers.
I'm still taking one day at a time.

But now, when fear starts spinning stories about everything that could go wrong, I'm trying to ask myself a different question.

What am I missing?

Not because I want to pretend everything is fine.
Not because positive thinking magically fixes difficult situations.

But because fear has a very small field of vision.

Love doesn't.

If you're walking through your own season of uncertainty right now, whether it's your health, your finances, your family, or something else entirely, I hope you'll pause for just a moment today.

Take a slow look around.

Who has checked on you?
Who has encouraged you?

What small kindness have you brushed aside because your attention was fixed on the problem?

Maybe your answers haven't arrived yet.

Mine haven't.

But maybe there is something else waiting to be noticed.

Something fear almost made you miss.

If you're learning to trust your own intuition—not as a way to predict every twist and turn, but as a way to stay grounded while life unfolds—I would love to have you join me in Confident Tarot for Beginners.

It begins July 18.

Together, we'll learn that intuition isn't about having all the answers. It's about learning to trust yourself, even when the answers haven't come yet.

Know that I love you. I really, really love you,

Granny D
