You Don’t Have to Figure It All Out Today

There are days when the cards feel clear.

You shuffle, you pull a card, and something inside you immediately says, “Yes. That’s it. That’s exactly what I needed to hear.”

And then there are other days.

Days when life is too loud.
Days when your body hurts, your heart is heavy, and even the simplest question feels tangled.

I have had a few of those days lately.

My body has been asking for more care than usual, and my heart has been carrying some things I am not ready to put into words. I am not going to share all the details, because some experiences need privacy before they need meaning.

But I do want to talk about what these days have reminded me.

Self-trust does not always look like having the answer.

Sometimes self-trust looks like admitting that you do not have the answer yet.

That can be difficult, especially for those of us who are used to helping other people.

We want to understand what happened. We want to know what comes next. We want to find the lesson, make the plan, pull the right card, and get ourselves moving again.

We want to do something.

But sometimes the wisest thing we can do is stop trying to force clarity before we are ready to receive it.

Tarot Is Not a Demand for Answers

I love tarot.

I have worked with the cards for over fifty years, and they have been beside me through joy, change, grief, confusion, and more fresh starts than I can count.

But tarot is not a machine that produces perfect answers on demand.

It is not there to rush us through pain.

It is not there to make every difficult experience feel meaningful before we have even had time to feel it.

And it is certainly not there to shame us because we cannot see the whole road ahead.

Tarot is a conversation.

Some days, that conversation is deep and detailed. You may pull several cards, notice connections between them, and come away with a clear sense of direction.

Other days, the most honest reading may be one card, one breath, and one simple question:

What do I need most today?

Not next month.
Not for the rest of your life.
Not the final answer to everything that is happening.
Just today.

Sometimes that question is enough.

The Pressure to Turn Pain Into a Lesson

We live in a world that is always encouraging us to turn our experiences into something useful.

Find the lesson.
Look for the blessing.
Tell the story.
Create something from it.
Move forward.

I believe that difficult experiences can teach us. I believe that healing can bring wisdom. I believe some of the most important truths we learn come from living through things we never would have chosen.

But I also believe we can ask for meaning too soon.

Sometimes pain is simply pain.
Sometimes grief is simply grief.
Sometimes you are tired, angry, frightened, disappointed, or overwhelmed, and you do not need to polish those feelings into a beautiful spiritual lesson.

You need to feel what you feel.

You need to rest.
You need support.
You need time.

You are allowed to have an experience before you explain it.
You are allowed to protect the parts of your life that are still tender.
You are allowed to say, “I am not ready to talk about that.”

That is not avoidance. That can be wisdom.

What Self-Trust Can Sound Like

We often imagine self-trust as a strong, confident inner voice.

“I know exactly what to do.”
“This is the right decision.”
“I am certain about my next step.”

Sometimes it does sound like that.

But not always.

Sometimes self-trust is quieter.

It may sound like:
“I need to rest.”
“I need help.”
“I am not ready to make this decision.”
“I do not want to talk about this yet.”
“I need more information.”
“I cannot keep pushing myself this way.”
“I am allowed to change my mind.”
“I will come back to this when I feel steadier.”

Those statements may not feel dramatic or mystical, but they are deeply intuitive.

Your intuition is not only the part of you that recognizes signs, symbols, and possibilities.

It is also the part of you that recognizes your limits.

It knows when your body is asking you to slow down.
It knows when a conversation is too much.
It knows when you need space before making a choice.
It knows when you are trying to force an answer because uncertainty feels uncomfortable.

Listening to those signals is part of learning to trust yourself.

You Do Not Have to Read Tarot When You Are Overwhelmed

There is a belief that we should always be able to turn to the cards.

And yes, tarot can be comforting during hard times.

But there are moments when your emotions are so close to the surface that every card seems frightening, confusing, or loaded with meaning.

You may pull the Tower and immediately assume everything is about to fall apart.
You may pull Death and convince yourself something terrible is coming.
You may keep drawing cards because you do not like the first answer, then become more anxious with every card you pull.

When that happens, it may be time to put the deck down.

Not forever.
Just for now.

You are not failing tarot by taking a break.
You are not less intuitive because you cannot read clearly when you are hurting.
You are not doing anything wrong because your mind is tired.

Sometimes the most responsible reading is no reading at all.

Make a cup of tea.
Take your medication.
Call someone you trust.
Sit quietly.
Cry if you need to.
Sleep.

Let your nervous system settle before asking it to interpret symbols.
The cards will still be there later.

A Gentle One-Card Practice

When you do feel ready to return to your deck, try keeping it simple.

Do not begin with, “Why is this happening?”

That question can become enormous very quickly.

Instead, ask:

What do I need most today?

Pull one card.

Before you reach for a guidebook, notice your first reaction.

What do you see?
Where does your attention go?
Does the card feel active or restful?
Does it suggest movement, patience, boundaries, comfort, honesty, or support?

You do not have to understand every symbol.

You do not need a perfect interpretation.

Let the card give you one small point of focus.

If you pull the Four of Swords, perhaps you need rest.
If you pull the Queen of Cups, perhaps you need emotional care.
If you pull Strength, perhaps you need gentleness rather than force.
If you pull the Hermit, perhaps you need quiet.
If you pull the Three of Cups, perhaps you need to let someone be there for you.

The card does not have to solve your life.

It can simply help you notice what you need.

Today Is Enough

When we are going through something difficult, the future can feel enormous.

We start asking questions that no one could answer all at once.

How will this turn out?

What am I supposed to do?

How will I get through this?

When will I feel normal again?

Try bringing yourself back to today.

What does your body need today?

What does your heart need today?

What can wait until tomorrow?

What is one thing you can stop carrying for the next few hours?

You do not have to solve the entire situation before you are allowed to take care of yourself.

You do not have to understand everything before you rest.

You do not have to turn your pain into wisdom while you are still living through it.

Sometimes the answer is action.

Sometimes the answer is a conversation.

Sometimes the answer is a firm boundary.

And sometimes the answer is tenderness.

That counts too.

One Day Left to Save 15% on a Reading

Sometimes it helps to have another person sit with you, look at the cards, and help you hear what your own intuition has been trying to say.

If you have been considering booking a reading with me, there is only one day left to receive 15% off your reading.

A reading is not about handing your power over to someone else. It is not about having another person make your decisions for you.

My job is to help you slow the noise down, look at what is in front of you, and reconnect with the wisdom you already carry.

The discount ends after tomorrow, so this is your last chance to use it.

Book your reading today and receive 15% off. Use the code BDAY15

And whether you book a reading or simply give yourself permission to rest today, please remember:

You do not have to have every answer.
You only need enough truth for the next step.

Know that I love you.
I really, really do love you.
